Almost more interesting than watching the bears dig for clams is watching how they eat the clams. This girl woud place the clam between her toes and squeeze enough to just open the shell and then she would bite out the clam - leaving the shell intact and barely broken. Then almost as quickly as she would eat it, she would be back digging for another!
I know, this photo is blurry - but I like it! These bears can move so fast. I was standing so close to them that if they wanted, they would easily have gotten me (and my wife), but they really were more interested in the fish. I think this image captures the speed and agility of the bears. One second they are standing still, and the next they are pouncing on a fish!
